Having the chance to pursue a stable and fulfilling life in a prosperous society is the dream of many people. New Diamond Direct Distributors Dr. Ho  and Priscilla were able to bring more meaning into their lives by developing the Amway business, and their goal is “to pursue a spirit of contentment – a kind of beauty and joyfulness that comes from the heart”. Supported by love and care, the couple is now focused on helping more people to live a more contented and fruitful life. 

The Destiny

In the early 1990s, I returned to Hong Kong after graduating from university in Canada. Working in a bank, I met a female colleague who introduced me to the Amway busines, and that is where my Amway story began,” Priscilla recalled. As someone who loves to learn new things she joined Amway’s beauty classes and began using the products. “My confidence in the products was boosted by the company’s quality satisfaction guarantee – it convinced me this was a ‘honest’ business too,” she said.

Priscilla didn’t think much about Amway at that time, but her Amway leader recommended a book called Believe, written by Amway Founder Rich DeVos. “The book shared with us the Founder’s beliefs, and it had a profound impact on me. After reading the book I had a deeper understanding of the spirit and culture of Amway, and I felt more confident about staying in the Amway environment,” she recalled.

The book made her curious how someone was able to incorporate honesty and integrity into a business in a highly commercial world and still be able to enjoy success. “This drove me to learn more about the company’s sales plan,” Priscilla shared. Working in a team filled with love and a strong bond, Priscilla was able to achieve outstanding results in just a short period of time. However, the team began to shift its focus and Priscilla faded out of the business as she wasn’t able to balance her time between Amway and working in a traditional job. But Amway remained very much in her heart.

Priscilla didn’t go back to Canada until 2003, where she was destined to meet her leaders in the team and, even more importantly, Dr. Ho. In the six years that followed her leaving Amway, various crises – including SARS and the financial turmoil – happened one after another. As an executive in a multinational bank, Priscilla was not directly affected but the ongoing uncertainty made her realize the importance of financial protection. “I felt that things were very different when I encountered Amway again. By that time, my husband was keen on developing Amway and I was ready to give my full support,” she said.

Satisfaction Speaks for Itself

Dr. Ho gained a PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences and was engaged in research at the University of British Columbia in Canada for many years . His research focused on the effects of drugs on the human body and ways to reduce the side effects of drugs through the antioxidizing effects of various nutrients. “Amway was the matchmaker between me and Priscilla,” Dr. Ho grinned. While it may seem that an academic such as Dr. Ho wouldn’t be able to relate to “establishing a business”, the fact is that he helped his father manage a business when he was young. “I knew it wasn’t easy to establish a business and that you needed sufficient capital to get started. After learning about Amway’s sales plan, I found it to be a low-risk business where even if you fail, all you lose is the time you gave.” 

Dr. Ho explained that Amway is a business that enables you to improve the health of others. This made a big impression on him and was why he decided to start the Amway business. “I had been studying how drugs help to relieve the discomfort of patients, but Amway allowed me to take a step forward, enabling me to help others improve their health and prevent diseases through nutrition,” smiled Dr. Ho. He said that being able to help others through nutrition was even more satisfying than finishing his research paper!

To Learn and Grow

Priscilla enjoyed a considerable income working in a traditional business but was never able to enjoy much free time. “The heavy workload coupled with office politics left me feeling exhausted, both physically and mentally. This led me to start thinking more about the valuable passive income and positive team environment offered in Amway,” Priscilla was grateful for her husband’s caring and the financial protection he’d achieved through Amway because it enabled her to devote more time and love to her mother during her last stage of life. This became a very precious memory for Priscilla.    

Priscilla has faced up to different challenges when developing her Amway business. “In my traditional job I usually work with professionals or businessmen, but in Amway I get to work with people from all walks of life. It sometimes seems I am in a three-legged race and it can be difficult to ensure we all share the same goal,” she explained. Looking back on her Amway journey, Priscilla said that “challenges enable us to grow and explore each other’s strengths. The more we complement each other, the easier it is to achieve our goal together.”

The Power of Two

Asked what it’s like to be a couple developing Amway together, Priscilla said “it is just like a tiger with wings! My husband uses his expertise to focus on helping to solve people’s problem through nutrition consultations and Amway’s health supplements, while my focus is on training and introducing the business plan, drawing on the experience I gained in a traditional business.” The pair have upheld a helping spirit throughout their Amway journey. “Everyone has their own potential, but only 1% of it may be discovered in daily lives while the remainder is not yet realized. Our goal is to help more partners explore their potential and enable them to live a more rewarding life.”

Creating a Contented Life

Today, Priscilla and Dr. Ho aim to pursue contentment in life. “The Amway platform brings different kinds of people together. If someone doesn’t yet have enough confidence in the business, we will hold their hand and walk with them together. We hope people can feel our love and care and are able to enjoy a life of contentment – it is priceless!”
