Many people hope to travel again at some point in the near future. Are you also eager to get back in the air?

Yearning to travel

According to a survey conducted by in 2020, more than 90% of Hong Kong respondents said they wished to go travelling again. They even thought about travelling nearly three times every day! The outbreak of COVID-19 has changed people’s perceptions of the travel experience – the survey pointed out that many are looking for a new travelling model that goes beyond just “eat, buy and play”.

Precious family time

In the past, many people liked to rush to scenic spots and cram in as much as possible when they travelled. But now many of us are taking a fresh look at the travel experience. Following the pandemic, many of us feel that we have less contact with family and friends than before and that we would like to spend more time with each other, which means family travel has become more important. In addition, nearly half of the survey respondents said they wanted to travel more so they could discover more and also revisit their favourite places.

Food comes first

Food and travel are inseparable companions, and you’ll probably enjoy very happy memories when you flip through photos showing the food you’ve eaten on your journeys. Nearly 70% of respondents said they would look to enjoy delicious and sumptuous food experiences in order to satisfy both the appetite and soul next time they go travelling.

Journey of mindfulness

In the past it was usually seen as an indulgence when people chose to enjoy a journey of mindfulness, spending time to “find themselves”. Now, this has become a more popular travel model that enables you to collect your thoughts, recharge and restart. The type of accommodation chosen by respondents also reflects their tendency to stay away from the hustle and bustle of city life: hot spring holiday resorts (53%), luxury five-star hotels (48%) and holiday accommodations (46%) are now the most popular choices among travellers.
